Akim of Kostanay region Kumar Aksakalov visited the construction site of the Octopus water park in Kostanay, the regional akimat reported. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
Together with the head of the region, active youth representatives inspected the facility, which is expected to become the largest indoor water park in Kazakhstan.
Aksakalov noted that the region's economy is developing in several areas, including industry, agriculture, construction, transport, and small and medium-sized businesses. According to him, new enterprises, factories, and plants are being built in the manufacturing sector.
"This year, a plant for the production of auto components for passenger cars will start operating in the region, creating 800 new jobs. A decision has also been made to build another similar plant, which will provide jobs for another 800 people," the head of the region said.
In the near future, the launch of the Confectionery Capital factory is also planned, which will create 260 new jobs. In Kostanay, a large pasta factory with a capacity of 40,000 tons of products per year will be built on the basis of the Kaizen plant. In Lisakovsk, construction of an oil extraction plant continues.
In agriculture, according to the akimat, commercial dairy farms, feedlots, and processing workshops are developing. The construction industry also maintains high growth rates. This year, the region plans to commission 520,000 square meters of housing.
Over the past three years, the population of Kostanay has increased by 13,200 people. The akimat attributes this to the economic development of the region. New public spaces and recreation areas are appearing in the city. The construction of Marriott, Novotel, and Holiday Inn hotels is also planned. An airport hotel is expected to open in the coming days.
"Along with economic development and the opening of new factories and plants, places for family recreation should also appear. The Kostanay region should have its own unique attractions for guests. One of these features will be the country's largest indoor water park, Octopus," Kumar Aksakalov emphasized.
The akimat also recalled that the region is increasing the number of sports facilities in accordance with the president's instruction to develop mass sports and strengthen the nation's health.
Over the past three years, more than 30 sports facilities have been commissioned in the region. These include 18 physical education and health complexes, eight gyms, four indoor hockey rinks, two stadiums, an equestrian arena, and a swimming pool. Last year, the Trudovye Rezervy sports complex was modernized.
Currently, the reconstruction of the Octopus water park continues. Work is underway on facade finishing, laying engineering networks, flooring, and pool design.
After completion of construction, the total area of the water park will double and exceed 9,000 square meters. The water area will triple and amount to more than 1,000 square meters. The facility will be able to accommodate up to 500 visitors at a time.
The first floor will house a water zone with a wave pool, a jacuzzi for adults, a pool with water slides, a children's pool, and a food court with 100 seats.
Earlier, Kursiv LifeStyle reported that on June 1, the swimming season officially opened in Kazakhstan, and compiled 12 popular beach destinations in the country where Kazakhs traditionally go for sun, water, and summer recreation.
