The largest indoor water park in Kazakhstan has opened in Kostanay, the akimat of Kostanay region reported. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
The complex covers more than 9,000 square meters, almost twice the previous figure. The water surface area has more than tripled and now exceeds 1,000 square meters.
The water park can accommodate up to 500 visitors at a time. The complex features five pools, seven water slides, including a large slide, a children's zone, a wave pool, a jacuzzi, and a food court.
At the opening ceremony, Kostanay region akim Kumar Aksakalov noted that the region continues to develop sports and public infrastructure.
"Our region is actively developing sports and public infrastructure. Over the past three years, more than 30 sports facilities have been opened," said Aksakalov.
According to him, construction of the Table Tennis Center and a multifunctional stadium in Triathlon Park is nearing completion in Kostanay. A Sports Palace is planned in the Astana microdistrict, and two fitness centers in the Bereke microdistrict and the Triathlon Park area. Construction of a Martial Arts Palace and a sports complex for people with special needs is also planned.
Since 2022, more than 21,000 trees have been planted in the region. Over 1 million flowers are planted annually. Last year, five parks and squares were opened.
An ecopark is being created in the suburbs, and a new park is planned in the Bereke microdistrict. In addition, authorities announced plans to build an art gallery, new shopping and entertainment complexes, and hotels.
"The main goal is to create conditions for young people to stay in Kostanay, work here, start families, and see their future here," said the regional akim.
Earlier, Kursiv reported that Kazakhstan's first water park in Kapchagay became the center of discussion after a blogger's post complaining about the condition of the complex and the cost of visiting. The water park has been operating since 1993, and ticket prices currently amount to about 10,000 tenge for adults and 6,500-6,700 tenge for children.
According to the author of the post, part of the infrastructure and attractions looks outdated, but user opinions were divided: some agreed with the criticism, while others noted large pools, clean water, and the ability to bring your own food.
