A court in Kostanay has sentenced a man who deliberately shot and killed his ex-wife with a hunting weapon. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
The court found that the grave crime occurred in March 2026. The man, driven by jealousy, during a confrontation aimed at killing his former spouse, fired two shots from a hunting carbine at her head and chest.
The victim died at the scene from her injuries. The convict then fled, but later voluntarily appeared before police and wrote a confession statement. The victim's side requested the maximum punishment.
During the court session, the defendant admitted his guilt.
The committed criminal offense falls under the category of especially grave crimes.
"Following the trial, the defendant was found guilty and sentenced to 12 years of imprisonment to be served in medium-security correctional facilities," the court reported.
The court partially satisfied the civil claim, awarding compensation for moral damages to the victims. The verdict has not yet entered into legal force.
