In the Kostanay region, police prevented internet fraud. An unknown person, posing as a postal worker, called a 46-year-old resident of Tobyl and asked him to provide a code from an SMS to receive a parcel. After some time, fraudsters posing as police officers called him again, claiming that his personal data had fallen into the hands of criminals. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

They offered the man to participate in a "special operation" to catch criminals. According to the fraudsters' instructions, the citizen was supposed to take out a loan of 3 million tenge. They convinced him that this was necessary to check the work of bank employees and identify criminals. Believing their words, the man even took time off work and went to Kostanay.

However, his wife's vigilance helped prevent the crime. Suspicious, the woman immediately contacted the local police inspector. The information was promptly relayed to Kostanay police officers, who stopped the man just as he was about to enter the bank. As a result, the citizen avoided losing several million tenge.
