In Kostanay, the body of a 35-year-old resident of Lisakovsk was found on the roadside after being struck by a car. The driver fled the scene of the accident, but was detained several hours later. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
The woman's body was discovered early in the morning by passing drivers. By that time, she showed no signs of life.
Police announced the "Intercept" plan and within a couple of hours identified the suspect — a 42-year-old driver. A part of the bumper of his white crossover flew off after the impact.
"The car was identified in the city of Kostanay in the shortest possible time. The suspect has been detained. Currently, all circumstances of the incident are being established," said Ekaterina Rabtsun, senior inspector of the information policy department of the Kostanay region Police Department.
Investigators are clarifying the circumstances of the accident and whether the driver could have saved the woman if he had remained at the scene and provided assistance.
