In the Kostanay region, the illegal export of 24 tons of alcohol was prevented. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

Under the coordination of the regional prosecutor's office, at the "Kairak" checkpoint in the Karabalyk district, the departments of economic investigation and border service foiled an attempt to illegally export ethyl alcohol abroad using forged documents.

"It was established that an individual was transporting excisable goods from the southern regions of the republic in significant quantities without a license and without registration as a business entity. To conceal the object of taxation, the cargo was listed as 'apple cider vinegar' in the accompanying documents," the statement said.

During the pre-trial investigation, the suspect's actions were classified under Part 1 of Article 224 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan, i.e., carrying out entrepreneurial activities without registration, as well as without the mandatory license, combined with the transportation of excisable goods in significant quantities.

By a verdict of the Karabalyk District Court dated June 4, 2026, the defendant was found guilty and fined 200 monthly calculation indices, amounting to 786,400 tenge, with the confiscation of 24 tons of ethyl alcohol in favor of the state. The verdict has entered into legal force.
