Police in Kostanay saved a resident's 15 million tenge. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
Unknown individuals posing as bank employees told the victim that his savings were at risk and that he needed to urgently transfer money to a "safe account." Believing the scammers, the victim transferred 4.5 million tenge.
"However, thanks to police officers, further actions were stopped in time. The police prevented the transfer of the remaining funds and saved the citizen's 15 million tenge," the statement said.
A pre-trial investigation has been launched. Police remind that employees of banks, law enforcement and other government agencies never demand transfers to "safe accounts."
