A court in Zhitikara, Kostanay region, has sentenced a man who stabbed his wife and stepson. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
The defendant was charged under Part 3 of Article 24, Part 1 of Article 99, and paragraphs 10, 13, and 14 of Part 2 of Article 99 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The incident occurred in April of this year.
Circumstances of the incident
The defendant quarreled with his wife and stabbed her. At that moment, his teenage stepson intervened. The man stabbed the teenager in the chest. The teenager died from his injuries.
After that, the man attacked his wife again. However, the victim was saved by her brother.
Court proceedings
The state prosecutor requested a sentence of 22 years in prison. The victims demanded a life sentence.
In court, the defendant pleaded guilty and asked for forgiveness from the victims. It was established that the man was intoxicated at the time of the crime.
By court verdict, he was sentenced to 23 years in prison. The verdict has not yet entered into force.
