Kiyoshi Kurosawa, the Japanese director known as 'the master of horror,' is bringing his first samurai film 'The Samurai and the Prisoner' to US theaters. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Associated Press.
The film opens July 31 in New York and Los Angeles, followed by a rollout in major US cities through August. Kurosawa admitted he was nervous about audience reactions, but the film received an enthusiastic response at the Cannes Film Festival in May.
It has become Kurosawa's most popular film to date, based on its reception in Japan, where it opened earlier this year. The cast includes Masahiro Motoki, Yuriko Yoshitaka, and Masaki Suda. The distributor is Janus Films.
