The head of state received the chairman of the Supreme Audit Chamber, Alikhan Smailov, Akorda reported. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev was presented with a report on the unscheduled audit of the efficiency of budget spending at the Ministry of Defense. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

Scope of the inspection

"The large-scale inspection covers 50 facilities, including 48 military units. For this purpose, a special team was formed from leading specialists of the state audit system, as well as experts in the IT and communications sector," the statement says.

As part of the audit, an assessment will be given of the situation in all main areas of the Armed Forces' activities. In particular, the material and technical support of military units, the training of personnel, the conduct of military training camps, the development of military infrastructure, the modernization of weapons and equipment, and the uninterrupted operation of digital systems will all be checked.

57 specific recommendations

"The President was presented with the results of the audit of the state defense order. Based on the results of the inspection, the Supreme Audit Chamber sent 57 specific recommendations and instructions to the Government and sectoral state bodies to eliminate the identified violations of legislation," Akorda reported.

In addition, the head of state was briefed on the progress of a planned audit inspection covering priority areas of economic development and the social sphere.

Results of the international meeting

Furthermore, Alikhan Smailov spoke about the results of the 63rd meeting of the Governing Board of the Asian Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions, held in Astana. An event in this format is being held in Kazakhstan for the first time.

At the end of the meeting, the president gave a number of specific instructions concerning the audit at the Ministry of Defense and the further improvement of the entire state audit system.
