From October 21, an average speed control system has been launched on part of the Konayev – Bakanas highway. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

This was reported by Polisia.kz. According to Akotty Boranova, deputy head of the department of the Administrative Police Committee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the length of the toll section is 38 kilometers 965 meters.

“The peculiarity of this section is that the speed limit is variable. That is, the permitted speed is different on different parts of the road. Therefore, pay special attention to road signs and observe the limit on each section,” she said.

Cameras record the time a vehicle passes the control arches at the beginning and end of the section. The system calculates the average speed based on the distance and travel time.

“Therefore, slowing down only in front of the camera will not help: if you exceed the permitted speed on the section, the offense will be recorded,” warned Akotty Boranova.

She recalled that speeding remains the main cause of severe road accidents on highways. 33% of road accidents in the country occur due to speeding.
