Kazakhstan has sufficient fuel reserves, there is no reason for concern, said Ashat Khasenov, Chairman of the Board of the national company KazMunayGas. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
According to Khasenov, fuel reserves are accumulated in advance because refinery maintenance is carried out as planned. "Today, the reserves are sufficient. They will last for more than 30 days, and this also applies to diesel fuel. Accordingly, all fuel reserves are sufficient," he said.
The head of the company noted that maintenance work is primarily carried out to ensure the safety of production facilities. He also stated that there are no restrictions on gas production at Karachaganak. "Previously, 31 thousand tons were produced, now 28 thousand tons of gas are being produced," he said.
Answering a question about plans to increase oil refining volumes, Khasenov said that work to increase production volumes is carried out annually. "We are engaged in increasing the volume of refining every year. In 2024-2025, oil products were produced by 1 million 300 thousand tons more. Minor production restrictions at the plants have been reduced, and enterprises are operating in accordance with the technological regime," said the head of KazMunayGas.
When asked about possible changes in Kazakhstan's oil refining industry due to fuel shortages in neighboring countries, Khasenov replied that the plants are operating at design capacity. "The plants have design capacity, our task is to ensure production. Now we are working at the design capacity level. As for questions regarding bans, I cannot answer, I am only responsible for the production direction," he said.
