KazMunayGas national oil and gas company plans large-scale geological exploration using new technologies. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
According to Samruk-Kazyna fund, KazMunayGas program includes 23 projects at various stages of development. Potential geological resources are estimated at up to 4.7 billion tons of standard fuel.
Plan until 2030
The company's plan until 2030:
- 01drilling 26 wells with a total depth of about 89 thousand meters;
- 02conducting 6250 kilometers of 2D seismic survey and 2540 square kilometers of 3D seismic survey;
- 03conducting geochemical studies at 22,000 locations.
Caspian region research
Regional studies of the Caspian region are a separate direction. To study deep sub-salt deposits of the region, 60 thousand km of 2D seismic survey is planned.

In addition, the Ministry of Industry and Construction reported the start of 20 projects on geological surveys at a scale of 1:50,000 in 2026. The ministry plans to increase the area of geological and geophysical surveys to 2.2 million square kilometers by the end of 2026.
