A storm warning has been declared for October 9 in 14 regions of Kazakhstan. According to Kazhydromet forecasts, wind gusts of up to 28 metres per second are expected in Pavlodar Region and Zhetisu. Heavy rain and snow are forecast in the mountains of East Kazakhstan Region, while extreme fire danger will persist in several western and southern regions. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
In the north, east and centre of the country, the weather will be determined by a north-western cyclone. It will bring rain, and in the east, rain mixed with snow.
"Across the republic, strengthening winds and fog are expected," the forecast says.
Wind in Zhetisu and Pavlodar Region
In Zhetisu, wind gusts in the north and east of the region will reach 15–20 metres per second, and at times during the day 23–28 metres per second. In Pavlodar Region, the wind will strengthen to 15–20 metres per second during the day, with gusts reaching 23–28 metres per second in the south and east.
In North Kazakhstan Region, winds of up to 15–20 metres per second are forecast, and up to 25 metres per second in the east and south. Gusts of up to 25 metres per second are also expected in the north, east and south of the Abai and East Kazakhstan regions. In East Kazakhstan Region, rain will fall, with rain and snow in the mountains, at times heavy.
Karaganda, Akmola, Kostanay and Zhambyl regions
In Karaganda, Akmola and Kostanay regions, as well as in the mountains of Zhambyl Region, wind gusts will reach 15–20 metres per second.
In Karaganda, Pavlodar, Petropavlovsk, Kokshetau, Semey and Ust-Kamenogorsk, winds of up to 15–20 metres per second are also expected.
Where fog is expected
At night and in the morning, fog is expected in certain districts of Karaganda, Mangystau, Aktobe, North Kazakhstan, Atyrau, Akmola, West Kazakhstan and Kostanay regions. Fog is also forecast in the mountains of Zhambyl Region, and in Aktau, Aktobe and Uralsk.
Fire danger
Extreme fire danger will persist in Kyzylorda Region, in the west, south and centre of Aktobe Region and Ulytau Region, as well as in the south of Atyrau Region. In Kyzylorda Region, the warning covers the period from October 9 to 11, with high fire danger forecast in the north and centre of the region.
High fire danger is expected in Atyrau Region, in the centre of Mangystau Region, in the west, south and east of West Kazakhstan Region, in the east of Aktobe Region and Zhetisu, as well as in the south of Kostanay Region.
Earlier, forecasters promised Kazakhstanis that after the first snow, the republic would warm up sharply to +27 degrees.
