On September 15, unfavorable meteorological conditions are expected in Almaty and six other cities of Kazakhstan. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

According to weather forecasters, NMU are predicted in Almaty and Aktobe, and at night — in Zhezkazgan, Balkhash, Atyrau, Ust-Kamenogorsk and Semey.

What is NMU

As specialists explain, unfavorable meteorological conditions arise from a combination of calm, weak wind, fog and temperature inversion. As a result, pollutants accumulate in the surface layer of the atmosphere, which can lead to a deterioration in air quality.

Weather forecasters warn that during such periods the risk of negative health effects increases, especially for people with chronic diseases.

Factors affecting air pollution

The level of air pollution is influenced by wind speed, precipitation, humidity and air temperature.

Recommendations for residents

Residents are advised to reduce time spent outdoors, especially near roads and other sources of pollution. Children and pregnant women are advised to avoid long walks.

People with respiratory and cardiovascular diseases, as well as allergy sufferers, are advised to carry necessary medications. Experts recommend limiting physical activity outdoors and, if possible, moving classes indoors.
