Kazakhstan is preparing for the joint CSTO exercise 'Rubezh-2026'. Due to this, from September 7 to 30, military equipment and personnel will move across the territory of three regions of the country. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

According to the Ministry of Defense, military equipment will be seen in Almaty and Zhambyl regions, as well as in the Zhetisu region.

The main part of the exercise will take place from September 12 to 19 at the 'Koktal' training ground in the Zhetisu region.

"During the exercise, field training is conducted, during which issues of regrouping troops, managing units and performing assigned tasks are practiced," the Ministry of Defense said.

The department explained that the exercises are held as part of the planned combat training of the CSTO member states. The 'Rubezh' exercise is held regularly and each time takes place on the territory of one of the member countries.

The department also called on the public not to spread unverified messages about the movement of military equipment and to rely on official information.

The Ministry of Defense reminded that spreading deliberately false information in Kazakhstan entails liability under the law.

Earlier, Kazakh citizens were already warned that in August and September they might notice military equipment, railway echelons with weapons, and military aircraft on the roads. The Ministry of Defense then explained that this was related to the preparation of the strategic command-staff exercise 'Batyl Toytarys – 2026'.

Significance of the exercise

The CSTO 'Rubezh' exercise is aimed at improving the interaction of the armed forces of the member states. Such events contribute to strengthening regional security and deepening military cooperation.

During the exercise, skills in troop management, coordination of units, and execution of military tasks in various conditions are practiced. This enhances the ability of CSTO countries to jointly respond to security threats.

The Ministry of Defense urges citizens not to worry about the movement of military equipment and to trust only information from official sources. It is reminded that spreading false information entails liability under the law.
