Unfavorable meteorological conditions are expected in nine cities of Kazakhstan on September 21, under which pollutants may accumulate near the ground surface. This forecast was published by Kazhydromet. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

During the day, NMU are forecast in Pavlodar, Atyrau, Aktobe and Astana. At night — in Petropavlovsk, Kostanay, Kokshetau, Ust-Kamenogorsk and Semey.

Unfavorable weather conditions arise from a combination of calm, weak wind, fog or temperature inversion. In such weather, pollutants disperse worse and can accumulate in the surface layer of the air. The NMU forecast itself does not mean that an exceedance of permissible concentrations has already been recorded.

During such periods, residents are advised to reduce time spent outdoors, especially near highways and other sources of pollution. People with chronic lung and heart diseases, as well as allergies, are advised to carry necessary medications with them.

Earlier, Kursiv wrote that on September 20 unfavorable weather conditions were forecast in six cities, including Almaty, Pavlodar, Atyrau and Aktobe.

It is worth noting that the NMU forecast is advisory in nature. It does not confirm that an exceedance of maximum permissible concentrations has already been registered. Specialists recommend monitoring weather changes and health conditions on such days.

Deterioration in air quality is usually observed on calm days, with fog or temperature inversion. Under such conditions, harmful substances are retained in the lower layer of the atmosphere. Therefore, the population, especially in central streets of cities and near heavy traffic, is advised not to stay outdoors for long.

For people with chronic diseases and allergies, such days require special caution. Doctors recommend keeping necessary medications at hand and seeking medical help if health worsens.

The Kazhydromet forecast is compiled for September 21. It is divided into daytime and nighttime. During the day, residents of Pavlodar, Atyrau, Aktobe and Astana should be attentive. At night, the situation may worsen in Petropavlovsk, Kostanay, Kokshetau, Ust-Kamenogorsk and Semey.

At the same time, it is emphasized that the NMU forecast itself does not mean an actual exceedance of permissible concentrations. That is, the forecast only warns of a possible danger, while specific indicators are determined by the results of ongoing monitoring.
