Unfavorable meteorological conditions are expected in Almaty and seven other cities of Kazakhstan on October 13. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

According to weather forecasters, unfavorable meteorological conditions are projected in Almaty, Astana, Karaganda, Zhezkazgan, Balkhash, Temirtau and Aktobe, and at night — in Uralsk.

How unfavorable conditions arise

As specialists explain, unfavorable weather conditions occur with a combination of calm, weak wind, fog and temperature inversion. As a result, pollutants accumulate in the surface layer of the atmosphere, which can lead to a deterioration in air quality.

Weather forecasters warn that during such periods the risk of negative health effects increases, especially for people with chronic diseases.

Factors affecting pollution levels

Air pollution levels are influenced by wind speed, precipitation, humidity and air temperature.

Recommendations for residents

Residents are advised to reduce time spent outdoors, especially near highways and other sources of pollution. Children and pregnant women are advised to avoid long walks.

People with respiratory and cardiovascular diseases, as well as those with allergies, are advised to carry necessary medications. Specialists recommend limiting physical activity outdoors and, where possible, moving exercise indoors.

Earlier, Kursiv wrote that a storm warning was declared in 17 regions of Kazakhstan for October 13.
