Kazakhstan's efforts in nature restoration have received international recognition. The experience of restoring tugai forests in the Ili River delta and the South Balkhash region has been included in the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) report "State of the World's Forests 2026." This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

According to the Ministry of Ecology, the Kazakh project was presented as one of 18 successful practices for restoring forests and natural landscapes selected from various countries around the world.

"This is not just planting trees, but restoring an entire ecosystem. Within the project, work is underway to preserve the genetic fund of turanga, collect seeds, propagate seedlings using scientific methods, and restore natural habitats," the ministry says.

As part of this initiative, which combines scientific research and modern technologies, work is also being carried out to create a cryobank for storing 100,000 turanga seeds.

Work in this direction has been carried out for several years by the Committee of Forestry and Wildlife with the support of WWF and the UNDP in Kazakhstan.
