Unfavorable meteorological conditions (UMC) have been forecast in six cities of Kazakhstan. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
These cities are Pavlodar, Almaty, Aktobe, Ust-Kamenogorsk, Semey and Ridder.
What unfavorable meteorological conditions are
Unfavorable meteorological conditions are a combination of short-term meteorological factors (calm, weak wind, fog, inversion) that contribute to the accumulation of harmful (polluting) substances in the surface layer of atmospheric air.
When UMC occur, the quality of atmospheric air in populated areas may deteriorate, which affects people's health.
Factors determining the level of pollution
One of the most important factors determining the formation of the level of pollution is the forecast of the synoptic situation (wind, precipitation, humidity, air temperature).
Recommendations during unfavorable meteorological conditions
During unfavorable meteorological conditions, it is recommended to:
- 01Limit going outside for people with respiratory diseases, cardiovascular diseases, as well as children and the elderly;
- 02Avoid prolonged stay in the open air;
- 03Reduce ventilation of premises by closing windows and doors;
- 04Drink more water and liquids;
- 05Seek medical help if necessary.
These recommendations are aimed at reducing possible harm to health when air quality deteriorates.
Storm warning in Astana and regions
Earlier, Kursiv wrote that on September 25 a storm warning was announced in Astana and 15 regions of Kazakhstan.
Thus, in a number of regions of the country, worsening weather conditions are observed, and a deterioration in the meteorological situation is expected. The UMC forecast covers Pavlodar, Almaty, Aktobe, Ust-Kamenogorsk, Semey and Ridder.
Since deterioration in atmospheric air quality can affect people's health, experts advise taking precautions during unfavorable meteorological conditions.
