Storm warning issued across all regions of Kazakhstan

Kazhydromet has issued a storm warning for September 20 across all 17 regions of Kazakhstan, as well as in Astana, Almaty and Shymkent. Forecasters predict thunderstorms, hail, squalls, fog and strong winds. High and extreme fire danger persists in many regions. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

Astana

High fire danger persists in Astana.

Akmola Region

Fog is expected at night and in the morning in the west, north and east of Akmola Region. High fire danger persists in the south, north, east and center of the region.

Fog is forecast at night and in the morning in Kokshetau. High fire danger also persists in the city.

Almaty

Short-term rain and thunderstorms are expected in Almaty in the evening, with winds possibly strengthening to 15 m/s during the day. High fire danger persists.

In the Ile Alatau mountains, as well as in the mountainous areas of Medeu and Bostandyk districts, short-term rain, thunderstorms and wind gusts of up to 15–20 m/s are forecast during the day.

Almaty Region

Short-term rain and thunderstorms are expected during the day in the north, south and mountainous areas of Almaty Region. Winds will strengthen to 15–20 m/s. Extreme fire danger persists in the region, and high fire danger in the south.

Short-term rain and thunderstorms are expected in Konaev in the evening, with wind gusts reaching 15–20 m/s during the day. Extreme fire danger persists.

Shymkent

Extreme fire danger persists in Shymkent.

Turkestan Region

Short-term rain, thunderstorms and wind gusts of up to 15–20 m/s are expected in the north and mountainous areas of Turkestan Region. Extreme fire danger persists in the region and in Turkestan.

Aktobe Region

Extreme fire danger persists in the west, south and center of Aktobe Region.

Atyrau Region

Extreme fire danger persists in the south of Atyrau Region, as well as in Atyrau.

Kyzylorda Region

During the day, winds will strengthen to 15–20 m/s in the north and east of Kyzylorda Region. Extreme fire danger persists throughout the region, including Kyzylorda.

Mangystau Region

Light rain and thunderstorms are expected at night in the northwest and south of Mangystau Region. High fire danger persists in the north and center of the region, and extreme fire danger in the northeast.

Ulytau Region

Rain and thunderstorms are expected at night and in the morning in the west and north of Ulytau Region, and light rain with thunderstorms in the east and center. During the day, winds will strengthen to 15 m/s in the south of the region. Extreme fire danger persists.

Light rain and thunderstorms are forecast in Zhezkazgan in the morning and afternoon. Extreme fire danger also persists in the city.

Karaganda Region

Light rain and thunderstorms are expected in the morning and afternoon in the west and south of Karaganda Region. High fire danger persists in the region, and extreme fire danger in the west, north and east.

Extreme fire danger is also expected in Karaganda.

Zhambyl Region

Rain, thunderstorms, hail and squalls are forecast in the morning and afternoon in the northwest, south, east and mountainous areas of Zhambyl Region.

At night in the mountains, and during the day in the southwest, northeast and mountainous areas, winds will strengthen to 15–20 m/s. In the southwest and mountains, gusts may occasionally reach 23–28 m/s.

Extreme fire danger persists in the region. Wind gusts of up to 15–20 m/s are expected in Taraz during the day.

Kostanay Region

Fog is expected at night and in the morning in the west and north of Kostanay Region, as well as in Kostanay.

West Kazakhstan Region

Fog is forecast at night and in the morning in the west, north and east of West Kazakhstan Region. Similar weather conditions are expected in Uralsk.

North Kazakhstan Region

Fog is expected at night and in the morning in North Kazakhstan Region. High fire danger persists in the east of the region.

Fog is also forecast in Petropavlovsk at night and in the morning.

Pavlodar Region

Fog is expected at night and in the morning in the north, east and center of Pavlodar Region. High fire danger persists in the region.

Fog is also forecast in Pavlodar at night and in the morning.

Zhetisu Region

Rain and thunderstorms are expected during the day in the south and mountainous areas of Zhetisu Region. Winds will strengthen to 15–20 m/s in the area of Alakol lakes.

Abai Region

High fire danger persists in Abai Region, and extreme fire danger in the northwest and south.

High fire danger persists in Semey.
