Unfavorable meteorological conditions (UMC) are expected in Almaty and ten other cities of Kazakhstan on November 1. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
According to weather forecasters, UMC are predicted in Almaty, Karaganda, Zhezkazgan, Balkhash, Temirtau, Uralsk, Aktobe, Shymkent and Turkestan. In Atyrau and Astana, unfavorable conditions are expected at night.
Unfavorable weather conditions arise from a combination of calm, light wind, fog and temperature inversion. In such weather, pollutants accumulate in the surface layer of the atmosphere, which can lead to a deterioration in air quality.
During these periods, the risk of negative health effects increases, especially for people with chronic diseases. Air pollution levels are also affected by wind speed, precipitation, humidity and air temperature.
Residents are advised to reduce time spent outdoors, especially near roads and other sources of pollution. Children and pregnant women are advised to avoid long walks.
People with respiratory and cardiovascular diseases, as well as allergy sufferers, are advised to carry necessary medications. Physical activity outdoors should be limited, and workouts should be moved indoors where possible.
