Kazakhstan has seen a sharp decline in crime: the number of criminal offenses fell by 10%, and the number of fraud cases dropped by 13%. These figures were announced at an expanded meeting of the General Prosecutor's Office board chaired by Berik Asylov, summarizing the results of the first half of 2026. The supervisory body disclosed large-scale figures on combating drug trafficking, protecting children, and recovering wage arrears.

Combating Shadow Financial Flows

One of the main areas of work for the prosecutor's office and financial institutions was cleaning up shadow money flows. Since 2025, the agency has managed to paralyze the activities of hundreds of thousands of shell entities:

  • 012.1 billion tenge in wage arrears were recovered;
  • 02More than 2,000 orphans were provided with housing;
  • 0310,000 teenagers gained access to planned hospitalization and free meals;
  • 042,900 officials and civil servants were held accountable.

Prosecutor General Berik Asylov emphasized that blocking the internet infrastructure of drug trafficking will remain a priority, and control over cybercrime will only be strengthened.

Protection of Social and Labor Rights

Special emphasis was placed on protecting the social and labor rights of Kazakh citizens. Thanks to prosecutorial intervention:

  • 012.1 billion tenge in wage arrears were recovered;
  • 02More than 2,000 orphans were provided with housing, who had previously been illegally removed from the waiting list;
  • 0310,000 teenagers gained access to planned hospitalization and free meals in educational institutions;

Inspections also covered the protection of minors' rights. As a result of prosecutorial action, more than 2,000 orphans were provided with housing, who had previously been illegally removed from the waiting list.

In addition, the rights of another 10,000 teenagers were protected — they gained access to planned hospitalization and free meals in educational institutions. For systemic violations in this area, 2,900 officials and civil servants have already been held accountable.

Board Conclusions

Concluding the board meeting, the Prosecutor General instructed to strictly monitor the prevention of domestic violence, sexual crimes against children, and the protection of citizens' constitutional rights in criminal proceedings.
