On the night of June 17-18, Moscow and several regions of Russia came under a massive drone attack. Journalists in the Senate corridors asked Kazakh Foreign Minister Yermek Kosherbayev whether Kazakhstanis in Russia could have been affected by the attack. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
According to him, there are currently about 10,000 Kazakhstanis in Moscow. However, Kosherbayev could not answer whether they are safe.
"I think that if you follow the safety measures that the authorities warn about, you can be safe. As for Ukraine, we know that the authorities have warned that certain precautions must be taken. And in the chats among people from Kazakhstan, this is also widely discussed, and everyone tries to follow this," said the Foreign Minister.
During the mass attack, drones managed to hit the Moscow Oil Refinery. Russian authorities are now taking measures to eliminate the consequences.
Earlier, Kursiv reported that Russia experienced the largest drone attack in 2026.
The Issue of Kazakhstanis' Safety
Kosherbayev's response has raised concerns about the safety of Kazakhstanis in Russia. Although the minister did not give a specific answer, he emphasized the importance of following safety measures. He also referred to the situation in Ukraine, where authorities warned of necessary precautions.
Consequences of the Drone Attack
The attack on the Moscow Oil Refinery caused significant damage to the infrastructure of the Russian capital. Russian authorities are working to eliminate the consequences. This attack is considered the largest in 2026.
Recommendations for Kazakh Citizens
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs recommends that Kazakhstanis in Russia follow local authorities' warnings and adhere to safety measures. Information exchange continues in chats among people from Kazakhstan.
