As of the first six months of this year, the amount of funds held in bank deposits by Kazakhstani citizens reached 25 trillion tenge. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Finprom.kz.

Currently, 84% of all deposit funds, or 21 trillion tenge, are kept in the national currency. The rest is in US dollar deposits.

Where the most money is concentrated

The bulk of deposit funds is concentrated in several regions. The most money is accumulated in the following regions:

  • 01Almaty – 9.6 trillion tenge;
  • 02Astana – 3.2 trillion tenge;
  • 03Karaganda region – 1.4 trillion tenge;
  • 04West Kazakhstan region – 1.2 trillion tenge;
  • 05Shymkent – 1.1 trillion tenge.

Among the regions with the smallest deposit amounts are Zhetysu region – 303.9 billion tenge, Almaty region – 232.4 billion tenge, and Ulytau region – 168.2 billion tenge.

Deposit growth dynamics

It is worth noting that at the end of 2025, deposits of individuals in second-tier banks of Kazakhstan increased by 15% and exceeded 28 trillion tenge.

Alternative investment instruments

Kazakhstani citizens have begun to pay attention to other financial instruments to save and grow their funds. Today, the country's financial market offers various investment instruments, including:
