Kazakhstanis can now record an electrocardiogram, check their hearing and receive warnings about possible breathing pauses during sleep using compatible Apple and Samsung devices. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
The Ministry of Health announced that it had reached agreements with manufacturers on access to these functions. According to the ministry, the agreements also cover the companies' future services.
"All new medical and preventive services introduced by Apple and Samsung will henceforth become available to users in Kazakhstan simultaneously with their official global launch on compatible devices, without any regional delays or restrictions," the Ministry of Health said in a statement.
On compatible Apple Watch and Samsung Galaxy Watch models, users can record an ECG and receive notifications about irregular heart rhythm. The results are saved on the smartphone and can be shown to a doctor.
The watches also analyze breathing during sleep and warn about signs of possible apnea, a condition in which breathing periodically stops.
On Samsung watches, blood pressure measurement is available through the Samsung Health Monitor app. To use it, the device must first be calibrated with a cuff tonometer, and the procedure must then be repeated every 28 days.
Owners of compatible AirPods Pro can take a hearing test in the Health app. They also have access to a personal hearing aid feature: the earbuds adjust and amplify surrounding sounds for adults with suspected mild or moderate hearing loss.
To use the services, users must update the software on their smartphone, watch and earbuds, and then set up the necessary functions in the app.
The Ministry of Health emphasized that gadgets help monitor health in everyday life but do not replace a medical examination. A specialist should make a diagnosis and prescribe treatment.
Earlier, Kursiv reported that Apple is expanding its health monitoring capabilities: devices assess sleep quality, track heart rhythm and nighttime recovery. Notifications about possible irregularities can become a reason to consult a doctor.
In September 2025, the company introduced AirPods Pro 3 with a heart rate sensor. Paired with an iPhone, the earbuds allow users to track their pulse and count calories burned during workouts. Apple began introducing hearing test and hearing aid functions in AirPods back in 2024.
