After the new banking law comes into force, depositors will be able to receive guaranteed compensation faster in case of bank license revocation. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
This was announced by the Kazakhstan Deposit Guarantee Fund (KDGF), commenting on the latest changes in the financial market.
Now the maximum period for starting payments from the KDGF reserve has been reduced from 35 to 20 working days. The fund noted that the corresponding changes are enshrined in the new banking legislation and are aimed at strengthening the protection of depositors' rights.
At the same time, the KDGF emphasized that in practice, payments began much earlier than the existing standards. Thus, after the closure of Tengri Bank, AsiaCredit Bank, and Capital Bank Kazakhstan, depositors were able to apply for compensation within 6–8 working days. The total amount of payments for these three banks exceeded 38 billion tenge.
The fund reported that it intends to further reduce the time for starting payments. For this, as noted, a sufficient financial base has been formed: the KDGF's special reserve exceeds 1.7 trillion tenge, which is higher than the target level set by law.
Earlier, Kursiv wrote that the Government of Kazakhstan approved a comprehensive plan to increase the income of the population for 2026-2029. One of the key points of the document is new obligations for businesses that receive state support.
