Kazakhstan and the United Arab Emirates have agreed on mutual recognition of driver's licenses. Once the agreement enters into force, Kazakhstani citizens will be able to use their licenses in the UAE, as well as exchange them under a simplified procedure. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Polisia.kz.
The relevant memorandum was signed by the interior ministers of Kazakhstan and the UAE during a meeting in Abu Dhabi. The document provides for mutual recognition of national driver's licenses and a simplified procedure for their exchange in certain cases.
This means that Kazakhstani citizens will find it easier to use cars in the Emirates without unnecessary bureaucratic procedures. The Ministry of Internal Affairs notes that the changes are particularly relevant as about 400,000 citizens of Kazakhstan visit the UAE annually, and approximately 14,000 Kazakhstani citizens permanently reside in the country.
However, the new rules will only take effect after both sides complete the necessary domestic procedures.
During the visit, the parties also discussed cooperation in combating organized crime, cybercrime, and drug trafficking, exchange of operational information, introduction of modern technologies, and personnel training.
Additionally, the Kazakh delegation visited the UAE National Crisis Management Authority and familiarized themselves with the developments of the EDGE Group technology holding in the fields of artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and modern solutions for law enforcement agencies.
Earlier, Kursiv Avto reported that driving schools in Mangystau were caught issuing certificates illegally on a mass scale.
