The Ministry of Internal Affairs has explained the procedure for mutual recognition and exchange of Kazakhstani driver's licenses in the United Arab Emirates. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
The memorandum between the interior ministries of the two countries comes into force on July 25. The main goal of the document is to reduce unnecessary procedures when using and exchanging driver's licenses in Kazakhstan and the UAE.
The memorandum covers two cases. The first is tourist, business or private trips. In this case, a citizen of Kazakhstan can drive a vehicle in the UAE with a valid Kazakhstani driver's license.
The second case is permanent or long-term residence. If a citizen of Kazakhstan receives a residence permit in the UAE, he can exchange his driver's license without taking exams. However, this benefit applies only to drivers of passenger cars.
The following documents are required for exchanging a driver's license: residence permit; national driver's license of category B or B1; official translation of the driver's license into the state language of the host country; certificate of medical examination.
The issue of exchanging driver's licenses for buses, trucks and other categories is considered in accordance with the legislation of the host country.
