While the whole country celebrates Family Day with thousands of events, a large-scale systemic overhaul is unfolding behind the beautiful facade. Kazakhstan is moving from formal congratulations to strict protection of the home — from a full criminal ban on domestic violence to attempts to radically change how bosses treat employees with children. Working with the business sector — the most unexpected direction of the reform

The most unexpected and long-awaited direction of the reform has been work with the business sector. The Ministry of Culture and Information, together with the UN Fund (UNFPA), launched a special project called "Family-Friendly Workplace."

Specialists have already begun training for heads of state bodies and private companies. The essence of the new standard is the introduction of a family-oriented corporate culture, in which employers will meet working parents halfway, creating flexible conditions for combining career and household duties.

Infrastructure of social and legal protection

In parallel, a powerful infrastructure of social and legal protection is being deployed in the country. A key turning point was the law on the safety of women and children, which finally criminalized domestic violence.

160 Family Support Centers are already operating across the republic. The immediate plans are to bring their number to 208, opening offices in absolutely every district and city. Since the beginning of 2026, more than 50 thousand citizens have applied to these centers. Almost 43 thousand families received counseling assistance, and about 6 thousand are under constant supervision of specialists.

Plan to preserve the institution of the family

To reduce the statistics of marriage breakdowns, Kazakhstan adopted a special Plan for the Preservation of the Institution of the Family for 2025-2027. Its goal is to teach people conscious parenting and conflict-free life even before a marriage finds itself on the brink of divorce.

Within the framework of this plan, the Ministry of Culture and Information is expanding the "Academy of Parents" project. In 2026 alone, training programs on the culture of responsible upbringing will cover over 40 thousand people — including parents, teachers and social workers across the country.
