Alongside the third stage of the ISSF World Cup in Rifle/Pistol in China, the fourth stage of the ISSF World Cup in Shotgun is underway. The first sets of medals were contested in skeet. Kazakh shooters failed to reach the finals in both men's and women's events. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
Among Kazakh women, the best result was shown by Adel Sadakbayeva. She hit 116 targets out of 125 and finished 16th among 48 participants. She missed the final round by three accurate shots – the last finalist finished qualification with 119 points.
Assem Orynbay became 18th, hitting 115 targets. Zoya Piskun with 110 points placed 29th. Olga Khailova competed only for ranking points and finished 35th (109).
Among Kazakh men, David Pochivalov placed highest. He scored 113 points and finished 64th. To reach the top eight finalists, at least 121 targets were required.
Artem Sedelnikov finished qualification in 72nd place with 110 points. Ratmir Yenikeyev became 77th, hitting 109 targets.
Ilya Penkov and Maxim Pochivalov competed only for ranking points. They finished 71st and 80th, scoring 111 and 107 points respectively. A total of 87 athletes were registered in men's qualification.
The fourth stage of the ISSF World Cup in Shotgun is held in Hangzhou, China, from July 20 to 29, with 686 athletes from 61 countries. A total of five medal sets will be awarded. Kazakhstan is represented by 18 athletes.
At the previous stage of the World Cup in Italy, Assem Orynbay and Alexander Mukhamediyev reached the skeet finals, finishing seventh and eighth respectively. At the second stage of the season in Almaty, Orynbay won a gold medal.
