Kazakh fencers have won a historic gold medal at the World Championships. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

At the 2026 World Championships in Hong Kong, the Kazakhstan national team won gold in fencing. The men's team triumphed in the épée competition.

According to the National Olympic Committee, Ruslan Kurbanov, Yerlik Sertay, Kirill Prokhorov and Vadim Sharlaimov reached the final, where they faced the Ukrainian team. The decisive match ended with a score of 40:45 in favor of Kazakhstan.

During the tournament, the Kazakhs defeated Finland (45:39), Uzbekistan (28:27), Denmark (45:36) and Egypt (41:32). Thus, the épée fencers achieved a historic result.

Previously, the team's highest achievement in this discipline was a bronze medal won in 2025, the National Olympic Committee said.
