Kazakhstan's archery team has completed its performance in team events at the third stage of the World Cup, which is taking place in Turkey. The best results were shown in mixed competitions and the women's team tournament in compound bow. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
In recurve bow, our team was represented by Alexandra Zemlyanova and Dauletkeldi Zhanbyrbay. In the first match, they defeated athletes from Switzerland (5:3), and then eliminated the duo from China (5:3). However, in the quarterfinals, the Kazakhs met the tandem from Germany and lost with a score of 1:5.
The Kazakh mixed team in compound bow also reached the quarterfinals. Victoria Lyan and Akbarali Karabaev first defeated Malaysia (154-152), and then beat Germany in a shoot-off. The main part of the match ended with a score of 159-159, and in the shoot-off the Kazakhs were more accurate – 20-19. In the fight to reach the semifinals, Lyan and Karabaev lost to Mexico (155:158).
In the women's team tournament in compound bow, Kazakhstan was represented by Lyan, Diana Yunusova and Adel Zheksenbinova. In the 1/8 finals, they defeated the team of Chinese Taipei (231-229). But in the next round, our archers lost to Mexico (226-234).
The men's team of Kazakhstan in compound bow, consisting of Karabaev, Dilmukhamet Musa and Andrey Tyutyun, lost to Mexico in the 1/8 finals (232-235).
In recurve bow, the men's team of Kazakhstan, represented by Zhanbyrbay, Ilfat Abdullin and Ivan Bercha, lost to Switzerland in the 1/16 finals (3:5).
The women's team consisting of Zemlyanova, Medina Murat and Samira Zhumagulova finished their performance after a defeat from China (3:5) in the 1/8 finals.
In individual tournaments, four Kazakh athletes continue the fight. In recurve bow, Dauletkeldi Zhanbyrbay remains in the bracket, and in compound bow – Dilmukhamet Musa, Victoria Lyan and Diana Yunusova.
The third stage of the Archery World Cup is taking place in Antalya (Turkey) from May 9 to 14 with the participation of 332 athletes from 42 countries. A total of ten sets of awards will be played.
At the second stage of the World Cup in Shanghai, the Kazakhstan team did not reach the medals. The best result was shown by the mixed duo of Lyan and Musa in the compound bow. They stopped one step away from the podium.
