Prospector Nurkhat Mametkerimov presented on July 20 at public hearings in the village of Kulan, Tulkibas district, Turkistan region, plans for the development of the Kulán-1 site near this locality. Over one year, he plans to extract about two kilograms of placer gold. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
"Gold washing will be carried out using a washing device. During prospecting work, it is planned to extract up to 2 kg of gold per season. To extract 2 kg of gold with a content of 400 mg/m3 (0.4 g/m3), it is necessary to process 5000 m3 of peat in one season," says his prospecting plan.
The site with an area of 2.5 hectares is located five kilometers northeast of the village of Kulan. According to the norms in force in Kazakhstan, one prospector can extract up to 50 kg of gold using a ten-ton truck.
For the work, the prospector will use a loader, a dump truck (with a carrying capacity of up to 10 tons), a gasoline electric generator, a Minilab/Proton elic m5 metal detector, several bayonet and shovel spades, and a Sibir-3 washing device (which helps wash gold with water – an example of its operation can be seen in the show "Gold Rush" on the Discovery channel).
The prospector plans to evaluate the site using a metal detector and washing of surface sediments for one month across the entire site in the most favorable areas for gold accumulation. After that, the site will be developed.
The maximum mining depth will reach three meters (average 1.8 meters). The rock mass will be loaded manually or by excavator into a dump truck and delivered to the washing device. The prospector plans to take water from a created intake pond.
Annually, the prospector plans to work 4-6 months, washing 5,000 cubic meters of rock mass. As a result, it is expected to extract 1.5 kg of gold in 2026, 2 kg in 2027, and 2.2 kg in 2028. The capacity of the washing device is five cubic meters per hour. It will be serviced by two people. The maximum number of workers in the season will reach eight people. Fuel consumption per season will be three tons.
Earlier, Kursiv wrote that a Kazakh woman who received a three-year prospecting license at the end of January 2024 planned to wash two or more kilograms of gold in one summer at the Bala Kalzhyr mountain river site in the Markakol district of the East Kazakhstan region.
