Kazakh scientists have developed a new technology for protecting fields using unmanned aerial vehicles. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
Scientists from the Kazakh Research Institute of Plant Protection and Quarantine named after Zhiyembayev presented a technology called BioDrop. This technology allows reducing the time of work by 4-6 times and increasing the biological effectiveness of protecting agricultural crops.
The complex includes biodegradable spherical BioDrop capsules, a special device for their distribution, and an unmanned aerial vehicle. Inside the capsules, biological material of entomophages, which are natural enemies of agricultural pests, is placed.
The capsules loaded into the drone are automatically distributed over the field along a predetermined route. This method significantly saves time compared to traditional methods.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, this technology increases the efficiency of protecting fields from pests and helps reduce the use of chemical preparations. The new method is environmentally friendly, as the capsules are made of biodegradable material.
It is expected that this achievement of scientists will contribute to the development of innovative approaches in agriculture. The introduction of the technology will allow farmers to reduce costs for field protection and increase productivity.
This project demonstrates an important direction of scientific research in the agro-industrial complex of Kazakhstan. Scientists of the institute continue to work on improving the technology and its introduction into production.
