Athletes and their coaches who excelled at the World Junior Judo Championships have been awarded cash prizes. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
During the ceremony, coach-consultant Cedric Paul R. Taimans was awarded the badge "For contribution to the development of physical culture and sports". Meirlan Baimakhanbetov, Talgat Tursynov, Sultan Oteshov, Bagdat Yergazy, Altynbek Supygaliyev and Almas Nesipberlinov were awarded the badge "Best in the sports industry".
For winning the team competition, senior coach Meirlan Baimakhanbetov was also given a special award. Athletes were presented with letters of gratitude and cash prizes.
In particular, 3 million tenge is provided for a gold medal, 1.5 million tenge for silver, and 1 million tenge for bronze.
It should be noted that at the World Junior Judo Championships held in Guayaquil, Ecuador, Kazakhstani athletes won 4 gold, 3 silver and 4 bronze medals. They were also congratulated by the head of state.
