Kazakhstan's pentathletes won bronze at the 2026 Asian Games in the team event. Temirlan Abdraimov, Tikhon Varekhin, Lev Chuvashov and Kirill Stadnik finished in third place. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

Team event result

Having overtaken the host team, our all-around athletes lost only to the teams of South Korea and China. Thus, Kazakhstan's pentathletes added a second bronze to the national team's tally.

In the individual event, the best result among our athletes, seventh place, was shown by Temirlan Abdraimov – 1564 points. The winner was China's Yang Ma.

Women's team result

The women's team, consisting of Yuliana Petrova, Ayana Kazbekova and Diana Shchedrova, stopped one step away from the podium. They lost to China, South Korea and Japan.

In modern pentathlon, athletes compete in fencing, swimming, obstacle course and a combined discipline combining running and shooting.

About the 2026 Asian Games

The official opening of the Games took place yesterday, September 19. In the multi-sport competitions with the participation of athletes from 45 countries, 460 sets of medals will be awarded. 217 – among men, 204 – among women and 39 – in mixed categories. The tournaments will be held in 68 disciplines of 41 sports. Kazakhstan's national team at the 2026 Asian Games will include 559 athletes.

Kazakhstan's first medals

The first medal for Kazakhstan at the Games was brought by triathlete Arlan Zhanabay, who took third place in the triathlon. Rinata Sultanova won the women's individual time trial, and Alexey Lutsenko – the men's. The third gold for Kazakhstan's national team was brought by karateka Zholaman Bigabyl.
