Kazakhstan's men's modern pentathlon team has won the bronze medal at the XX Summer Asian Games held in Aichi–Nagoya. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
According to the team standings, the Kazakh pentathletes took third place, returning Kazakhstan to the Asian Games podium after 16 years.
Previously, the country's representatives last won a medal in modern pentathlon at the Asian Games in 2010.
In the final stage, Tikhon Varekhin, Temirlan Abdraimov and Lev Chuvashov defended Kazakhstan's honor.
"This bronze medal is an important result for Kazakh modern pentathlon and put an end to the 16-year medal drought at the Summer Asian Games. This medal of the men's team also added to Team Kazakhstan's medal tally on the first competition day of the XX Summer Asian Games," the Ministry of Tourism and Sports said.
Recall that the XX Summer Asian Games are being held in Aichi–Nagoya from September 19 to October 4.
