The technical launch of the largest indoor water park in Kazakhstan took place in Kostanay. The 'Octopus' complex will start serving visitors in September 2026. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
The two-story water park covers an area of over 9,000 square meters. The complex can accommodate up to 500 people at a time. The facility will operate year-round.
The water park features seven pools with a total area of about 1,500 square meters, including a wave pool with artificial waves, a children's zone, 'Aquatonic', and water attractions.
Akim of Kostanay Region Kumar Aksakalov attended the technical opening. According to him, the authorities expect the new facility to become not only a place for family recreation but also one of the region's tourist attractions.
"Along with economic development, the launch of new factories and plants, it is necessary to create conditions for comfortable living and meaningful family leisure. The Kostanay region should have more unique facilities interesting for both residents and guests of the region. One such place will be our largest indoor water park in the country," Aksakalov said.
The regional administration expects the 'Octopus' to attract tourists to Kostanay from other regions of Kazakhstan and neighboring countries.
At the same time, the city is developing other tourist and recreational infrastructure. Parks and squares are being improved in Kostanay, and walking and sports zones are being created. In addition, authorities previously announced plans to build hotels of international chains Marriott, Novotel, and Holiday Inn.
