On June 13, 2018, an official decision was made to establish the holiday 'Dombra Day' in Kazakhstan. Since then, the first Sunday of July has been celebrated as Dombra Day. This year the holiday falls on July 5. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

'Abdolla's Dombra' in Atyrau

In the Inder district of Atyrau region, a new facility aimed at promoting the region's cultural heritage was commissioned – the monument 'Abdolla's Dombra'. The monument is installed in the 'Arbat' recreation park in the village of Inderbor. The new cultural object was erected to honor the outstanding kui composer, Honored Worker of Culture of the Kazakh SSR, native of the Inder district, Abdolla Musagaliyev. The total length of the monument, made of metal structure, is 7.5 meters. The monument is engraved with the name of Abdolla Musagaliyev, as well as the names of Inder artists who participated in the 1958 Decade of Kazakh Literature and Art in Moscow.

Dombra monument in Abai region

In 2018, when the first Sunday of July was declared National Dombra Day, a monument to the dombra was erected in the Abai region. The sculpture is located in the center of the village of Kalbatau, the administrative center of Zharma district, on Dostyk Street, with a height of 7 meters. The dombra emerges from an oak tree; the author of the monument is Nurbol Kaliyev.
