In Kazakhstan, due to abnormal heat, asphalt on highways of national importance has begun to deteriorate. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

According to Channel Seven, due to high temperatures, the road surface began to heave and melt. The problem is particularly acute in the Zhambyl, Pavlodar and Turkistan regions. There, cement-concrete surfaces have deformed: slabs have risen and moved apart, creating a danger for drivers.

"At the 1355th kilometer of the Pavlodar — Astana highway, the concrete surface rose due to a sharp increase in temperature. The damaged section has now been fully restored. Traffic is moving without restrictions," said Serzhan Kyzylbayev, an engineer of the repair team.

A similar situation occurred on the Shymkent — border with Uzbekistan highway. At the 712th kilometer, specialists discovered damage to the road surface and promptly eliminated it.

According to experts, in 40-degree heat, concrete expands significantly and under the load of vehicles, cracks and deformations may appear in the surface. On particularly hot days, such cases were recorded in several regions of the country, on eight road sections.

According to KazAvtoZhol, the roads in the country are now under constant control. "All defects identified on repaired sections whose warranty period has not expired are eliminated by contractors at their own expense. No additional budget funds are spent on these works," noted Baimukhan Nursultan, engineer of the operation department of NC KazAvtoZhol JSC.

According to him, similar cases are observed not only in Kazakhstan but also in other countries with hot climates. Earlier, Kursiv wrote that KazAvtoZhol urgently eliminated defects on highways due to the heat.
