From January 1, 2027, the rules for assigning social payments for job loss from the State Social Insurance Fund (SSIF) will change in Kazakhstan. The maximum period for receiving them will be three months, and the amount will be limited to 45% of seven minimum wages (MW). This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
The duration of payments will depend on how long social contributions were transferred for the employee.
Thus, from 2027, it will be possible to receive the social payment for job loss for no more than three months instead of six under the current rules.
The maximum amount of the payment is also limited. It cannot exceed 45% of seven MW – 267,700 tenge with a MW of 85,000 tenge. It is noted that it is seven minimum wages that constitute the maximum income amount of one employee from which social contributions are calculated.
At the same time, the media claim that within the framework of a pilot project, the new rules were already introduced in October 2026.
The SSIF recalled that the mandatory social insurance system has been operating in Kazakhstan since January 1, 2005. It provides additional protection for working citizens in the event of social risks. Employers transfer social contributions for employees to the fund, from which the corresponding payments are then financed.
The SSIF publishes information about the adopted changes and the timing of their entry into force on its official website.
Earlier, Kursiv wrote whether working Kazakhstanis would receive benefits from January 1, 2027.
