From January 1, 2027, the maximum period for receiving social unemployment benefits in Kazakhstan will be reduced from six to three months. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population explained what support citizens left without work can receive.

Social benefits from the State Social Insurance Fund are provided to participants in the mandatory social insurance system if they have the corresponding right. It partially compensates for lost income during the job search period.

From 2027, the duration of payments will depend on the length of participation in the system, but will not exceed three months.

A maximum benefit amount is also being established — no more than 45% of seven times the minimum wage. The individual amount will be calculated based on the income from which social contributions were paid and the length of participation in the system.

To receive assistance, one must first register as a job seeker. This can be done at a career center at the place of residence, through eGov.kz, or via the Electronic Labor Exchange Enbek.kz.

During registration, one must indicate education, professional skills, work experience, and employment preferences. Career center specialists will select vacancies based on this information. If no suitable job is found, the citizen will be registered as unemployed if the established requirements are met.

In addition to job selection, citizens may be offered training in a new profession, advanced training, youth internships, and other types of subsidized employment.

Measures to support entrepreneurial initiative and voluntary relocation for employment are also provided. Participation conditions depend on the specific program.

The Ministry of Labor emphasizes that assistance continues after employment: the career center monitors the citizen's employment. The goal of such support is to help a person return to stable work.
