In the first five months of this year, Kazakhstan produced 1.9 billion eggs, which is 7.6% more than last year. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
This is the highest figure in the last four years. In May, 413.6 million eggs were produced, an increase of 4%.
According to the results of the first quarter of this year, Kazakh poultry farms provided 96.5% of the domestic market and exports. Imports have significantly decreased: a year ago it was 80.4 million eggs, now it has halved to 40.2 million eggs.
In four months, 1.2 billion eggs were sold across Kazakhstan. The consumption level is also growing. According to last year's results, each Kazakhstani consumed an average of 211.7 eggs, which is 2.8% more than the previous year. In 2019, a person ate an average of 194.3 eggs. Over the past six years, consumption has increased by about 9%.
Eggs are especially consumed by urban residents. In regional terms, the most eggs are eaten by residents of the Karaganda region. Last year, there were 320.1 eggs per person. This is followed by Akmola, North Kazakhstan and Kostanay regions, as well as residents of Astana. The least eggs are consumed in the Mangystau region, followed by Turkistan, Zhetysu and Kyzylorda regions. It is worth noting that residents of the Karaganda region consume 2.2 times more eggs than residents of the Mangystau region.
