The number of road accidents and deaths in them has decreased in Kazakhstan. Over seven months of 2026, the number of accidents decreased by 4%, deaths by 16%, and injuries by 6%. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing PrimeMinister.kz.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs notes that prevention and digital control on roads help reduce accidents.
Over seven months, police suppressed more than 8.7 million traffic violations. For gross violations, 18 thousand drivers were deprived of driving rights, and another 15.5 thousand people received administrative arrest.
More than 31 thousand automatic recording systems operate on the country's roads. With their help, 5.7 million violations were detected. Cameras also allow monitoring the passage of technical inspection and the availability of insurance policies.
Preventive measures are also yielding results in other areas. As reported by Baglanbek Aitpayev, Deputy Chairman of the Administrative Police Committee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, in 2025, 96.6 thousand crimes were registered in Kazakhstan — 6% less than a year earlier.
"In the first half of 2026, the crime rate decreased by another 10%. At the same time, the number of offenses in public places decreased by 19%," he noted.
The authorities attribute these results to the transition from responding to crimes to preventing them and the wider use of digital technologies.
The day before, the Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan named the main cause of road accidents in the country. According to the department, 91% of all accidents occur due to gross violations of traffic rules.
