A plant for producing Volvo trucks will open in Kazakhstan. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
At a meeting of the bilateral commission on Kazakh-Swedish trade and economic cooperation, a memorandum of cooperation between Astana Motors and Volvo Group was signed. The document outlines preparatory measures for the production of Volvo trucks.
The ministry's official statement said: "In the initial phase of the project, it is planned to produce Volvo FH13 long-haul tractors. Additionally, the possibility of producing Volvo FMX13 vehicles, widely used in industry and construction, is being considered."
The Swedish automotive company is currently one of the world's leading manufacturers of extended model range trucks. Last year, Volvo Trucks opened its first service station in Kazakhstan and a new office for Central Asia and the Caucasus.
