In August 2026, 166,547 vehicles were registered in Kazakhstan. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

According to the National Bureau of Statistics, of the total number of vehicles registered in a month, 87.5% were passenger cars, 5.6% were trucks, 2.6% were trailers, 0.8% were buses, 0.7% were motorcycles, and 2.7% were other vehicles.

As of September 1, 2026, the total number of registered vehicles in Kazakhstan reached 6,088.7 thousand units.

The structure of the overall vehicle fleet is as follows:

  • 01passenger cars – 5,105.4 thousand units (83.9%);
  • 02trucks – 496.1 thousand units (8.1%);
  • 03trailers – 263.9 thousand units (4.3%);
  • 04buses and minibuses – 89.5 thousand units (1.5%);
  • 05motorcycles – 75 thousand units (1.2%);
  • 06other vehicles – 58.7 thousand units (1%).

In the structure of passenger cars registered in August, the largest share was made up of cars more than 20 years old since manufacture – 28%.

The distribution of registered passenger cars by year of manufacture is as follows:

  • 01up to 3 years – 40,513 units (24.3%);
  • 02more than 3 but not more than 7 years – 12,986 units (7.8%);
  • 03more than 7 but not more than 10 years – 6,011 units (3.6%);
  • 04more than 10 but not more than 20 years – 39,646 units (23.8%);
  • 05more than 20 years – 46,610 units (28%).

By region, passenger cars more than 20 years old since manufacture were registered in Almaty region – 6,254, Zhambyl region – 4,643, and Turkistan region – 4,559 units.
