Starting August 25, a new procedure for transferring alimony will come into force in Kazakhstan. Alimony will now be transferred to special bank accounts. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
The Ministry of Justice of Kazakhstan reported that the claimant must provide the bailiff with the details of such an account. The innovation is intended to ensure the safety of funds intended for the maintenance of a child or a disabled person.
"In accordance with current legislation, money in a special alimony account cannot be seized. This will guarantee that alimony will be used exclusively for its intended purpose and will not be affected by enforcement actions on other obligations of the recipient," the ministry's statement said.
Earlier, Kursiv wrote that alimony in Kazakhstan may begin to be paid at the expense of corrupt officials.
The new procedure is aimed at ensuring timely and full payment of alimony, as well as protecting the interests of children and disabled persons. Special accounts prevent the use of alimony for other purposes and simplify control over their intended use.
The ministry urges alimony payers and recipients to familiarize themselves with the new requirements and prepare the necessary documents in a timely manner. The new rules come into effect on August 25.
