In Kazakhstan, the number of food poisoning cases related to educational institutions decreased fourfold in the first seven months of 2026. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
The ministry stated that this result was achieved through strengthened state control over facilities where children are present.
"In the first seven months of 2025, 8 cases were registered, affecting 118 children. In the same period of 2026, 2 cases were registered, affecting 13 children," the statement said.
Following cases of group illnesses linked to food poisoning in educational institutions in the Mangystau region, the state adopted a set of additional measures aimed at preserving children's health.
Since February 1, 2026, the entry into force of a law providing for a special procedure for state control over facilities where children are present, funded from the state budget, has made it possible to strengthen control over compliance with sanitary requirements and timely identify potential risks.
Since September 1, 2025, educational organizations have been using the Nutrition Standard and a standard prospective menu consisting of several options, the ministry said.
The documents were developed taking into account modern principles of proper and balanced nutrition for children. Special attention is paid to the safety of products, their storage and preparation conditions.
