This year, Kazakhstan will introduce an average speed measurement system on three more toll roads. This was announced by Maksat Bayakhmet, Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Roads of the Ministry of Transport, during a briefing at the government. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
According to Bayakhmet, the new system will be installed on the following sections: from Karaganda to Almaty, Ust-Kamenogorsk – Taldykorgan, and from Korgas to Almaty. These sections will be equipped with average speed measurement devices.
He noted that in the first quarter of this year, the number of road accidents on sections where the system has already been implemented decreased by 15 percent. This demonstrates the system's effectiveness.
Previously, the average speed measurement system was launched on the following sections: - Astana – Shchuchinsk (speed limit 140 km/h); - Astana – Pavlodar (speed limit 140 km/h); - Shymkent – Kyzylorda (speed limit 110 km/h); - Shymkent – Taraz (speed limit 110 km/h); - Pavlodar – Semey – Kalbatau (speed limit 100–110 km/h); - Uralsk – Russian border (direction to Saratov) (speed limit 100 km/h); - Pavlodar – Russian border (direction to Omsk) (speed limit 100–110 km/h); - Zhibek Zholy – Temirtau (speed limit 140 km/h).
The new system aims to improve road safety and reduce the number of accidents.
